Jacob

Jacob went in for his 18 month doctor's appointment this month and is as healthy as a horse. He's big as a horse, too, actually. He's over the 95% for height, but only 50-75% for weight. Basically he's a just a string bean.

I am having a great time having Jacob all to myself each day. He is getting more and more opinionated all the time. He's talking like crazy, and a few words that he says (in order of when he first started saying them) are: No, Bye, Hi, Dada/Mama, All Done (with hand sign), More (with hand sign), Shoes, Apple, Cheese, Cookie, Jump, Ba-ba, Go, Slide, Outside, Socks and many more I can't think of right now.

(He loves slides).

He loves to watch Blues Clues (like all of our kids) and Yo Gabba Gabba (and will run around furiously in circles when the theme music comes on--it's his version of dancing, we're guessing). He loves the song "Tonight" by Hot Chelle Rae and can be found singing "Tonight, Tonight" and the "Oh-oh oh" part all the time. He also sings the theme-song to the Beyblade cartoon that his older brothers like to watch, which drives me insane.

(Here he is dancing at a park---if only it were video!)

He's back to taking good long naps again (thank goodness!) He's at that stage where he's starting to try and do everything by himself, which is adorable and maddening at the same time. He hates for anyone to leave the house, and has even cried when one of my voice students left (how dare anyone leave his presence without an official dismissal)!

He loves to jump on the trampoline and to jump off of just about anything, regardless of how he lands. He's going through a wonderful phase where he won't eat anything of nutrional value without some extreme persusion. And while he loves to color with crayons and markers, he can't be trusted not to eat them (oh, the irony)!

(Here he is contemplating a jump off the couch--which he eventually does and lands in a heap, laughing hysterically).

We do a little fingerplay that goes:

Bumblebee, Bumblebee,
Come out of the honey
And tickle little Jakie
Right on the tummy!

He will squeal with laughter when we do this and then will repeat something that sounds like "Mumm-mee, Mumm-mee" and ferociously poke himself in the stomach.

It's so much fun watching him figure things out, and I wish I could record his gibberish and listen to it forever (I call it "pretend English"). He fits in perfectly with the Grundbergs and is definitely the family jester. He's just a joy, and I love, love, love this little kid.
